Tourney Pick'em

It's that time of year again. The time of year that companies lose $1.7 billion (or so i've heard) to people being unproductive and paying attention to the COLLEGE BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT. Oh the glory!

If you want to participate in my friendly (read: FREE) pool, go to http://tournament.fantasysports.yahoo.com and sign up. The group information is as follows:

Anyone is welcome to join, so feel free to invite your friends. The brackets are already out, so all you need to do once you've signed up is fill them out. If you want, you can even ignore them for the rest of the tournament. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns let me know so I can address them.

Hmm ... Interesting. Maybe I'll have better luck creating a bracket where I have not seen most of the teams play and have very little info on them than when I watched a lot and knew plenty about the teams.

hey..... i know nothing. If i decide to do it, i won't have any stat information to go on. I'll seriously, as alex said in his email, be picking teams based on how awesome their name is. Villanova for the win :)

the first games are on thursday. if you decide to join, make sure you fill out the bracket prior to the first games on thursday morning. i know there are at least a few people who do it every year who pay little to no attention to the regular season. so don't worry about not knowing anything... there will be others in the same boat.

yeah...... you know how you made fun of me for calling a receiver a "catcher" in football? i know even less about basketball. and when i say less, i mean significantly less.

haha, i forgot about that. well, it's up to you, but i'm serious when i say that a few people (who have done it for the past few years) pick just based on if they think a team sounds better. Oral Roberts anyone?

oh, well that's no fun...... you have to select your teams on your own in your own individual way. If that means by knowing how each team performs or by picking them on an alphabetical order basis, whatever works...... you just have to pick your own teams.

I'm scared to check my bracket now. lol

Oh man... I did so well after the first round (Thurs and Fri). 27/32. I was on top of the world. 99th percentile on Yahoo! Sports. I even picked both Siena (13) and Villanova (12) for one of the double upsets.

Then yesterday happened. Notre Dame? lost. Purdue? lost. Duke? lost. Marquette? lost. Pittsburgh? lost. Kansas State? lost.

I went from a 1 point lead to a 6 point deficit. hopefully today goes a bit better. And dude, you're in second by a point. Your bracket seems to have held up pretty well... so far anyway.

Really? Either most people did bad or somehow most of my second round teams survived. Sweet. I'll go take a look now. (After knocking on wood - lol. :D

Wow, compared to everyone else I'm in pretty good shape. Hmmm ... maybe all these years I've been picking incorrectly. I gotta NOT watch the games, NOT analyze the teams, NOT read/hear/watch about the teams, and NOT spend more than 10 minutes making the bracket (with over half the time just reading the little blurb about the team). I would laugh so hard if this is the first time I've ever won one of these ... and the biggest group (tied for biggest actually) no less. My bad, I just remembered a group that was bigger.

haha, yeah there's a lot of basketball left. the key is picking the winner as that will give you 32 points for just the one game. same goes for picking the final four winners (16 pts apiece). good luck though!

Yeah, that seems to be my problem in years past. Only twice have I gotten 3 out of 4 final four teams (or more) correct, and only once gotten the national champion correct. MSU in 2000! Even then I lost because well ... everyone of us in that group were MSU students and MSU fans thus most of us picked MSU all the way. I didn't pick Florida as the opposition though.

a couple years ago i had 3/4 final four teams. i guess it was 2005? the last time msu made the final four. i had louisville, illinois, unc and kentucky (who lost in double overtime to msu). unfortunately, i had louisville over unc instead of unc over illinois... and i ended up in like 5th. ah well, still a lot of fun every year.

Yeah..... apparently i have alot less luck with basketball than football. I ended what.... 4 or5 out of 20 in our football pickem (actual season), and then am currently dead last if i remember correctly for this :) oh wellz.

i've got 7 of 8 elite eight picks still standing, and all my final four are still in it...
hopefully it will stay that way after the MSU/Memphis game...

on that one..... GO MSU! (good lord, i never thought i'd EVER hear myself saying that..... or at least read myself typing it.....)
